Utah...Gimme Two...Amazing Hikes

(May 17 - May 18)

People often talk about how amazing the northwest is. The truth is....the GNW is awesome. It consists of Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana and Wyoming, but technically ends to the east, when you hit the Rockies. I have spent my whole adult life hearing about all of these states....except one, Idaho. Let me tell you, Idaho is a hidden gem. People who know it, don't talk about it all the time, because they don't want you to ruin their piece of paradise. From Coeur d'Alene to Twin Falls to Boise, its all fantastic.

After bouncing around the state, we made a long haul down through Salt Lake City. It was several back to back days with long driving days, and we were all ready to do something outside. Problem was, rain. As I stated in our last post, everyday was full of rain. Maro looked up some rock climbing options and we stopped on the southside of Salt Lake City and climbed indoors at Momentum Indoor Rock Climbing. Everyone loved it. The whole Trendel family would all be climbers if we lived anywhere near a climbing area. After finishing, we stayed at a KOA nearby and then headed further south to Canyonland and Fruita.

Arriving in Canyonlands, we took two amazing hikes. The first was through some slot Canyons (Cohab Canyon Trailhead) and the second was a dry riverbed in a huge canyon (Grand Wash Trailhead into The Narrows).

Note: We did not stay at the campground in Fruita, due to our RV being to big. If you have the ability to do a night there...it looked like a fantastic place to make a home base for a night or two.

After the hikes we drove through terrain that looked like we were on the moon. We stayed at Duke's Slickrock Campground in the town of Hanksville, where we ate an awesome home cooked meal and all fell asleep sore and happy.
