Adventures in Barrington

We were so blessed to have a short visit with our wonderful family the Collins'. It was the boys "favorite" part of the trip so far as they enjoyed playing hide and seek, frisbee football, creating youtube videos ("dinosaur attack"...hold on to your butts amazing - trust me), and nerf gun battles (sans bullets) with Akira. And who can visit Barrington/Chicago without some Portillo's... :)

We are so thankful to have time with family, stay up late watching a movie, and doing 3 loads of laundry without quarters!

Thank you to our amazing hosts!

As part of our visit to Barrington, we visited the Brookfield Zoo.

The zoo was incredibly crowded being a Sunday when we visited, it was also incredibly hot!

The exhibits provided some welcome relief from the heat since many of them were inside. And we were excited to see the whole gorilla family including a playful youth and a baby nursing with his mother.

We also enjoyed the dolphin show (yes, a dolphin in Chicago). The kids really enjoyed the dolphins and we all enjoyed the "splash zone."

As a recommendation for the Brookfield Zoo, I would say bring a stroller (for kids under 5...or practically anyone), some water, sunscreen and extra cash...for the beer (allowed throughout the zoo) and of course Starbucks!
